Random Food of the Day

A doubleheader today of filled figures. There are many versions of these with different shapes and fillings, but essentially it is a waffle / pancake batter that is allowed to set up on the surface and then a filling is added before sealing the front and back together. The figured ones as shown here are made using a tool along the lines of a waffle iron, but it is really impressive to watch the basic round ones being made by hand. The ones here are a red bean paste filled tuna from the Tsukiji market in Tokyo and a custard filled Buddha from Kamakura
