I generally do not set food out for the native inhabitants of Rurika, but when I noticed deer tracks straight through the orchard I decided to set some corn out a little further down their path in hopes that if the deer were looking for a snack they would prefer corn over apple shoots. Although I did not get positive proof that this approach worked, I did not notice any new nibbles on the trees and the corn went away fairly quickly – but having spotted this cardinal at work I can’t be sure if the deer ever got a bite.
