Random Food of the Day

Pomme Gris apples. Several years ago I had an apple in Portugal labelled “Canada Gris” and decided I need it in the orchard. While I couldn’t find a tree of Canada Gris, I did find Pomme Gris, which had a similar description and was grown in the St. Lawrence valley (though it is unclear if it originated there or was brought over from Europe). This year was it’s first crop, and it certainly matches my memory of that apple in Portugal.
