Random Food of the Day

Yesterday I was visiting a company and had lunch in their canteen. I was not expecting much beyond basic canteen food, so I was rathar suprised to come across a baked chicken breast seasoned with fennel and served with a compote of quince and fuyu persimmon. It is hard enough to find either quince or fuyu persimmon on a menu in the US, so with both in the same dish I had a very easy time selecting what I wanted for lunch. No pictures as cameras were not allowed on site, but seved on a bed of white rice it made for a colorful and flavorful meal as the quince and persimmon flavors worked very well with each other and the fennel.
